Book Review: The Answer by John Assaraf

This was a surprisingly powerful book. The reason for some of the categories only getting 4 stars is the 2nd half of the book is a bit dry, and is mostly read by another man.  The first half of the book, that is read by John Assaraf himself, is incredible.  I was familiar with this guy from watching "The Secret" several years ago. A friend recommended this book because he said it made some of the true concepts in that movie a lot more practical. Well, after I got a quarter of the way in, I had to call and thank him, because it was mind boggling. He explains why goal setting, visualization, and affirmations are so important, as well as the most effective ways to do them. I will most certainly listen to the first half of this book many times!

Audio Review: Sales Mastery with Tiffany Peterson

When I find an audio book that I really like, I will certainly listen to it more than once, but with this one, I have listened to it 5 times now, and have learned so much. Now, I am really good at sales, and I honestly wasn't expecting to find anything of this magnitude, but I have fully integrated her system into my own sales department and sales conversations, and the results are incredible. I recommend this to all entrepreneurs, not just sales people. An important part of what she covers is obviously sales, but before doing so, she lays an amazing ground work that establishes why her system works so well, and really applies to all areas of business.  She then gets right into the meat of a sales system that is genius!

So many sales training systems contain elements of manipulation that I have always disliked. When I listened to this series for the first time, I knew I had found exactly what I was looking for and more, because it so perfectly matched the type of sales system I want to build in my company. In addition to covering the 'skill set' needed to master sales, she spends a good amount of time on the 'mind set' for success as well. It's a very easy listen, and is not near as long as other audio series on sales, but is cram packed with gold.

In fact if you buy it from her, and don't benefit from it many times over, I will purchase it from you so I can gift it to my clients. It's really that good, and you really need to listen to this one!!!

Book Review: LinchPin by Seth Godin

I started out really liking this book. It gave me a huge pat on my back for thinking and acting like an entrepreneur instead of an employee. It helped me solidify some of my beliefs, that not many others share. After a few hours, it began sounding repetitive. It probably wouldn't seem that way for people still in the employee paradigm. That said, I do think it's a good book, and I agree with Seth's points. After a couple days of listening to this book, while mountain biking of course, I admit that I found myself wondering if I was getting close to the end.  When I looked, I was excited that I only had 10 minutes left... until I noticed that I was listening to part 1.  I still had part 2 with another 67 chapters. If this book was shorter and more concise, I would have given it a higher rating.

Book Review: The Power of Full Engagement

I finished listening to The Power of Full Engagement yesterday. The book is by Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz, and I highly recommend it for others who, like me, struggle with prioritizing time, and getting the most important tasks done.  I tend to focus on the urgent, but not so important tasks.  While this book had plenty of dry spots that literally put me to sleep, there were also gems of gold that really helped me.  This is not a magic pill that if read will instantly transform you to a disciplined master of your time. But it has given me some really good ideas of ways I can really enhance my day and my productivity, and it will actually be fun.
